| | John Tucker Must Die | ] | I am in Clearwater Florida right now and I can't remember how long it's been since I just hung out like this. I got here Saturday evening after practically promising the airport my firstborn child. Bitches only let me keep one lighter! Ok, moving on. I got here and my Uncle had already bought me shrimp to fish with...how cool is that? I immediately changed into my suit and went swimming. Then I tried out some of those shrimp. Still haven't caught much of anything, but I realized today I think my hook is the wrong size. I keep losing the big ones and only catching bream about two inches long (Hey, I can't admit it...)
Yesterday I woke up and we ate lunch (hehe) then Aunt Barbie and I spent the day painting things for her store in Jackson. I made (what I think) is an adorable set of wine glasses with a tray that says Wild with animal print. I also made a fish platter. Aunt Barbie is working on the weirdest rabbit I've ever seen...and trying to add polka dots to everything I paint. We then got pizza and watched Memoirs of a Geisha last night. I had heard about that movie, but I was amazed at the amount I learned from an enjoyable film. I really liked it. Then, having used all four dozen shrimp earlier, I used left over hot dogs which, by the way, speckled trout apparently do not like. Then I took a warm shower and went to bed.
Today was shopping day. We got dressed and went out to Joe's Crab Shack for lunch. Then we went and got some paints to do some more stuff for the shop and then went shopping for real. I definately got four dresses and two pairs of shoes...mmm, I love shoes. Then Aunt Barbie and I went to get our nails and toes done. And not only am I color coordinated in flourescent orange, I got a wonderful massage. However, I did want to hit the random lady next to me in the face...HARD. She totally told them she what she wanted vaguely and said well Nygen does it for me all the time. Then she asked the price and when told it was 30 bucks she immediately said, no, Nygen only charges me $15. Then she was trying to tell three sweet Asian ladies what she wanted, they finally thought they figured it out, and she let the girl get started, then a little while into it said, No this is not what I get, can I get someone who speaks actual english. I so wanted to kill her.
And then I had spaghetti made by an actual Italian. Mmm good. With Phish food ice cream. I am in total heaven...I do miss my friends though. If they were here, I could die here happily... |

| | David Bowie - Golden Years | ] | Hanging out with Drew Platt is always really refreshing. He is one of my favorite people, ever.
I walked the bridge with Lindsey this evening, then Drew and I rode our bikes down it. It's pretty and all lit up. Lots of people were using it. I'm glad the people around here finally have something to do/look at and to get them off of their asses.
Lindsey and me are taking Mawmaw and Pawpaw out for lunch tomorrow. That should be good since I haven't spent any time with them in months. Writing the wordsmawmaw and pawpaw is really weird and feels awkward. It's what we've all called them our whole lives, and it doesn't seem so strange when you're saying it. I really don't like writing it out.
This has been a pleasant visit to OS, short as it was. I'm going back to Mobile tomorrow where I'll get to catch up with more people I haven't seen in forever, then back to Atlanta Thursday. While I'm actually pretty eager to get back, nights like tonight make me really miss all of the people I like best. Fortunately, I got to see the majority of them while I was here. Jessi, when do I get to see you next???
I miss my kitty and David lots, though. We are going to play lots of Donkey Kong when I'm back and we are thinking about buying an old standing DK arcade machine. They are decently priced on ebay.
Life's fun. |

| BWA HA HA HA! |
[May. 8th, 2008|10:38 am] |
I am DONE with my junior year of college. Yay for me! One year and especially 3 classes left and I will be done with my B.A. in theatre. Then only one more year to get my B.S. in forensic science but I think I'm going to take some time off and try and got work first. I know in my heart that if I finished with my forensics and got a job like that I would never be able to audition and I would lose my chance to find true happiness in what I really want to do. I think I'm going to try and move to Altanta or Chicago or something.
It's so hard to see friends go. The grad students that came in when I did are leaving this year and also a bunch of undergrads that I was really close too. The department isn't going to be the same. I know I should be ecstatic for them because they are going to do what they want to do, but I selfishly wish they would just stay here. I suppose next year I'm going to peace out just as fast, so I really can't say much.
Just finished Monica's final. Whoo go scansion. And Greek and Shakespeare monologues! I think that the faculty has finally seen some potential in me and next year I've decided that my goal is to be cast in a mainstage both semesters. Whoa, dream big Ashlee.
Larry's final...sigh. I can't talk about it.
AND I'M DONE WITH CAPSTONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whoooo bitches!
And tomorrow I'm driving down to the coast to see Mom and Mandy. I think Mandy and I are going to go out Friday night, but we'll see how that goes... And then Saturday I am headed to the airport to fly to Tampa to spend a week in Clearwater at Aunt Barbie's. Words cannot describe how excited I am. This semester has been absolustly exhausting and wonderful and busy but I need a break. I'm going to spend endless days fishing and swimming and shopping and I cannot wait.
In other news, Dog Sees God was amazing. It and the musical theatre showcase reminded me why I do theatre. I literally could live off the satisfaction I get from a good performance. Argh, I am in such a good mood! Summer Here I Come! |

| | Radiohead - Jigsaw Falling Into Place (in my head); NINJA WARRIORS!! | ] | TONIGHT (AS IN THURSDAY) I AM SEEING RADIOHEAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.......and it's supposed to storm severely (the venue is an outdoor amphitheatre).
I'm using this rare occasion we're picking up internet to update. David's parents bought a springer spaniel puppy from a breeder about an hour and a half north of here in Calhoun, GA, so this past weekend they came to stay with us. We went to a Brave's game on Friday, and Saturday we all drove to pick Marley Marlboro up. We got pancakes at the Original Pancake House here, OH MY GOD--it's so fucking delicious. That evening we went to Buford Hwy. to eat at Monterey (the best Mexican restaurant EVAR) and shop at the International Market. David's parents, being awesome, bought groceries for us. The greatest thing about it was that we were able to get all of the cool Mexican stuff that we always want but can't really afford to splurge on in addition to the stuff we need. All I can really say about it is wow. It was sooooo incredibly helpful. And nice of them. And I feel like I can't thank them enough. They also bought us a bottle of Sake, which I had never tried before. I really like it. And this Japanese beer called Hite, which is really good, and a Salvadorian version of Pilsner that was equally delicious. And a bottle of rum. They also brought us a cool wine set and a bottle of some of the best wine I've had, which I drank too much of last night. I want to like, write them a letter of appreciation. They're very fun to just hang out with when they visit us at the apartment. We made mojitos at night, which were delicious. And they like Radiohead, how cool?
David's cousin Matt is here for the night from Chattanooga. He plays the trumpet on cruise ships. We went to a Braves game tonight as well. We've been making it to lots of games. I got to see the Celtics play the Hawks last week. That's significant because A) I actually really like basketball, and B) when I was little and played rec basketball my team was the Celtics. So I decided to cheer for the Celtics. I get to wear green in support of them. Woo.
We had our first (and going to be last) rent-paying-fiasco. We are being charged $200 more because we were 1 minute late paying rent and they do not accept cash in the office. I hate being paid bi-weekly and having rent due by the 6th of every month. It always seems to really clash. I guess the consequence of living in an apartment complex is the robotic nature of all transactions; there is no leeway given or human-to-human understanding. I was blissfully unaware of this as it's my first time having a rent to pay and David's first rent not paid to just another person.
I finally took Sascha home for a couple of nights this week. I love her. I love her love her love her. She is the best dog, ever. I'll post pictures of her soon. I think maybe we're on the verge of adopting her? I'm still uncertain how David feels about bringing someone else here. He likes her as much as I do, but I guess I'm still uncertain how I feel about it, too. I just want her to have a home, and I haven't fallen in love with an animal like that since the first time I got Bunny, who is really old and still residing in OS. We both eventually want a dog, she fit in really well here in the apartment, and Ludwig got along well with her, but I guess it's something we'll have to think about a bit longer. My reservation is really just that we live in an apartment, and I want her to be able to run freely outside whenever she wants, although I'd take her to the park very frequently.
I highly recommend you watch the movie King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters. It's a documentary about world champion video game players. It's fucking hilarious, and they're dead serious about everything. We saw it tonight. You should see it very soon.
I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE RADIOHEAD TONIGHT (TECHNICALLY), HOLY FUCK. |
